Guidelines
University Councillors are advisors and ambassadors for Queen’s and as such, actively participate in the annual meeting of the Council and ongoing Council business during their terms. University Council seeks members who have been actively engaged in the Queen’s community as students and/or alumni; who have a variety of skill sets arising from professional, volunteer, and life experiences; and who are both willing and able to fully engage and participate in Council’s deliberations. The University Council Newsletter provides an overview of additional engagement opportunities offered to Councillors and identifies ways in which members can fulfil their role and stay involved with the University.

In order to help us achieve the goal of reflecting the diversity of Canadian society, alumni are encouraged to consider individuals from equity deserving groups such as women, Black, racialized and Indigenous peoples, persons with a disability, and persons who identify in the 2SLGBTQ+ community when nominating a candidate.

Please contact the University Secretariat by email if you have any questions.
