On Oct. 24, Kingstonians will go to the polls to elect their Mayor, District Councillors, and School Board Trustees. If you’re considering running or just want to learn more about what is involved, attend an upcoming candidate information session hosted by the City of Kingston Clerk’s Office.
“If you’re passionate about our community and want to make a difference, consider learning more about what it means to be a local elected official,” says Janet Jaynes, Deputy City Clerk.
Interactive information sessions will be held on Zoom, and feature speakers from the City of Kingston, Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, and local school boards. A former City Council member will also be in attendance to share their own experience of running for Council and life after election day as an elected official.
Sessions are open to everyone, and people from all backgrounds and experiences are encouraged to attend. “Even if you’re on the fence, sign up. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” says Jaynes.
