CFRC 101.9fm and the Four Directions Aboriginal Student Centre present Our Stolen Sisters: listening to the voices from our community, an eight part radio series in response to missing and murdered Indigenous women. The series aired each Thursday in January and February, 2015 at 5:00pm EST on CFRC in Kingston, Ontario. We invite interested listeners to revisit past episodes at ourstolensisters.wordpress.com, and to discuss how best to keep this conversation loud and continuous.
During the past 20 years, the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women has received very little community and national attention and action. Our series is intended to explore the four directions of the medicine wheel and help create a larger conversation about all components that may be of concern for women in communities across Canada.
CFRC invited community leaders and elders, support workers, students and politicians to share personal experiences surrounding this deeply troubling issue. Everyone is encouraged to participate in the conversation, either with your closest friends or with people you meet along the path. Share your personal ways to keep the conversation active by sending us your ideas. Your action, large or small, will help to improve the lives of women and children in Canada.
