Neighbourhood Tree Planting Program regrows

Back for another season, the City’s Neighbourhood Tree Planting Program has relaunched, making discounted trees available for residents to help grow Kingston’s tree canopy.

“Trees provide shade, store greenhouse gasses, help remove pollutants from groundwater, prevent soil erosion, as well as beautify our community,” says Troy Stubinski, Public Works Operations Manager. “Purchasing a tree is an excellent way to improve your property and help grow our canopy – which benefits all Kingstonians.”

Ten different species of tree are available for purchase online starting today. Trees will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. A second sale of trees will launch on July 4. Property owners within the City can purchase up to two trees per property. Coniferous trees are $10 and deciduous trees are $17 (HST included).

Orders can be placed online. Visit CityofKingston.ca/NeighbourhoodTrees for complete details.
