Kingston East Community Centre Opens – Public invited to take a tour and participate in programming by our community partners

March 21, 2022

It is with great enthusiasm that we announce the opening of the Kingston East Community Centre (KECC). To celebrate, we are hosting a Grand Opening for the public on Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Everyone is invited to tour the facility and take part in free family programming and sample what will be offered daily from our community partners: the YMCA, the Seniors Association, EarlyON, the Boys & Girls Club and Loving Spoonful. The Kewaywin Circle will join us for a drumming and singing circle for everyone to enjoy.

“KECC is a welcoming new community hub that will bring together residents to serve as a central gathering place for you, your family and our community to enjoy,” says Amy Gibson, Manager, Recreation & Leisure Services. This facility will host a wide range of activities to meet everyone’s needs.”

The indoor amenities include a fitness room, gymnasium, multi-purpose spaces and a teaching kitchen. The outside area features a skateboard park, skating rink, splash pad and community garden. Exciting new programs and services will also be delivered by the City’s community partners. “Creative community partnerships are essential to meet the needs of our community members to ensure that all our services are inclusive and diversified for people of all ages and abilities,” Gibson continues, “We look forward to seeing you at KECC!”
