Slow Dances are always raging and festive dance parties peppered with slow songs pre-selected by DJs. These tracks are printed on dance cards that you can use to sign up for slow dances with fellow attendees. With DJ Deena, DJ LK, DJ Haircut, and L.A. Foster it's sure to be "a night to remember." A true adult prom and re-do of hilarious middle school dances.

As always, designated dancers will be making the rounds, adorned with late summer night's dream wings, making sure that there are no wallflowers. These people are approachable and utterly babely. They'll help you get into the swing of the evening.

Why are the Slow Dance organizers doing this event to support CFRC?

CFRC is going to be significantly impacted by changes made to student fees on university campuses this fall. The Ford government has made it so that students now need to opt-in to support campus radio stations across Ontario, rather than having these stations automatically receive a small amount of funding from each student with the option for them to opt-out if they choose to. CFRC expects, like many student groups, to lose a great deal of its funding.  84% of its budget derives from previously mandatory student fees. The resulting impact on CFRC is that the station stands to lose about between 50-70% of its operating budget this fall, as well as in subsequent years, unless something can be done. We're here to raise awareness with the student population, get local supporters and potential donors in the loop, and have a fun party to raise some funds while we're at it. We want to see CFRC make it to its 100th birthday in 2022 (Yes! That's right! We are Canada's OLDEST radio station!) and beyond. With your help we hope we can.

CFRC is your local source for alternative music programming, news, interviews, and social justice radio. Its an incredible resource for anyone in the community who wants to learn about DJing, audio recording and editing, podcasting, broadcasting, music and more through volunteering. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
