Communication goes beyond what is spoken — from a shrug to a smile, nonverbal cues say a lot without words. Kids learn to use these cues from their earliest years, and nonverbal communication significantly impacts their relationships, emotional development, and self-worth.

Understanding nonverbal communication is essential to the social and cognitive development of kids. On February 21 from 7-8 p.m. via Zoom, Ph.D. student Daniel Nault will explore how children use nonverbal communication in Growing Up Human: It’s Not What You Say, It’s How You Say It!

Nault is affiliated with the Child and Adolescent Development Research Group at Queen’s University.  “This is a must-attend event for everyone who seeks to understand and connect with the next generation. Communicating and understanding information is critical to good health and survival,” said Jake Miller, Librarian, Adult Programming. “Unlocking the secrets of nonverbal communication will deepen our relationships and lead to a brighter future for all.”
