Dale Kenney wins Lifetime Achievement Award for Leadership

Kenney honoured with national Lifetime Achievement Award

May 17, 2022 – Dale Kenney, a long-time hospital administrator and community builder was awarded the prestigious 2022 Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership by the Catholic Health Alliance of Canada (CHAC). The award was announced at the 59th national conference hosted jointly by St. Joseph’s Care Group and the Fort William First Nation at Lakehead University.

Kenney most recently served as the interim President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Providence Village and the Administrator for Providence Motherhouse. From 2008-2014, he was the President and CEO of Providence Care. Prior to that, he held the position of Joint Vice President, Planning for Kingston General Hospital, Hotel Dieu Hospital and Providence Care. Throughout his career with the Kingston hospitals, he was known for his ability to bring together diverse groups and ideas, integrating planning to help perfect the delivery of care in Kingston – resulting in approvals for major redevelopment, including the planning and government approval of the new Providence Care Hospital and expansion. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Certified Health Executive with the Canadian College of Health Leaders.

A longtime admirer of the service of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul and the Religious Hospitallers of St. Joseph of The Hotel Dieu of Kingston, Kenney has worked over the past 8 years with the Sisters of Providence, helping create the vision and the establishment Providence Village Inc. This work ensures the Sisters of Providence will continue their legacy of serving vulnerable populations.

“The Sisters of Providence are delighted that Dale Kenney has been honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award for his leadership in Catholic Health Care over the course of his career,” said General Superior Sr. Sandra Shannon and General Assistant Sr. Frances O’Brien. “With vision, and commitment to the mission and values of the Catholic institutions he served, Dale has influenced these organizations to find creative ways to care for the most vulnerable in the local community of Kingston and beyond. We are proud to be associated with Dale for so many years.”

Kenney epitomizes the values that make up a lifetime of achievement – promoting human dignity, caring for persons who are marginalized and vulnerable, promoting the common good, and stewarding resources wisely.

“I am very honoured and humbled to receive this recognition as any success I have had in my career has been the result of a team effort. I am thankful to have worked with many great people who have guided and mentored me. I am also thankful to have been inspired by the missions and work of the Sisters,” Kenney said.
