City to buy former retirement home for affordable housing

Kingston-City Council voted Tuesday Oct 20th to purchase Fairfield Manor West, the former retirement home at 805 Ridley Drive for $2.29 million.  The City will convert the former retirement residence into affordable housing.

 

Funding for the purchase comes from the second round of provincial social services relief funding in addition to $1.16 million from municipal social housing funds.

The City initially received 2.24 million from the province.   1.13 million will be spent on Fairfield's purchase, while an additional 1.1 million has been earmarked for maintaining operations at the Integrated Care Hub.
