City to begin accepting sewage system permits,

November 17, 2020

The City’s Department of Building Services is preparing to take over the process for administering sewage system inspections. While this service has been provided by KFL&A Public Health since 1998, responsibility for the process will shift to the City, effective Jan. 1, 2021.

Required under part 8 of the Ontario Building Code, residents will be able to submit permit applications and request inspections directly through DASH, the City’s online Development and Services Hub.

“As the need to inspect sewer systems is often related to building projects, it made sense to incorporate the process into DASH which allows residents to manage a number of building-related permit applications quickly and conveniently from their computers,” says Lisa Capener-Hunt, Manager of Building Services and Chief Building Official for the City. Staff can also help applicants with any questions by phone, email or in person, at 1211 John Counter Blvd.

Residents who are planning to apply or schedule inspections before Jan. 1, 2021, can still do so through KFL&A Public Health.
