City of Kingston celebrates outstanding volunteers with the annual Civic Awards

Every year, the City of Kingston recognizes outstanding volunteers with Civic Awards. These annual awards celebrate residents who generously donate their time to make contributions to the community in the areas of culture, heritage, recreation, sports, health, education, environment, safety, volunteering or business.

The City is honoured to celebrate these recipients of the 2022 Civic Awards:

  • First Capital Distinguished Citizen: Jamshed (Jimmy) Hassan
  • Honourable Achievement: Donna Cowie-Ducharme, Dr. Elaine Ma
  • Youth Volunteerism: Brooke Baker, post-secondary; Andrew Chin, high school; Yara Hussein, post-secondary; Julia Stevens, elementary

“When people ask me what makes Kingston such a special place, the answer is easy: the people. It is my honour and privilege to celebrate our 2022 Civic Award recipients. Your selfless dedication is not only recognized, appreciated and essential—it is what makes this incredible city feel like home for so many of us! Thank you,” says Mayor Bryan Paterson.
