City Matters: COVID-19 Bulletin June 30

Some City services, facilities, and amenities are reopening today as part of the move to Step 2 of the Province of Ontario’s Roadmap to Reopen.

  • The focus of Step 2 is on the resumption of more outdoor activities and limited indoor services with small numbers of people where face coverings are worn, with other restrictions in place.
  • Any person who enters a City facility or uses a recreation amenity should maintain a 2-metre physical distance from others (excluding members of the same household and/or family). For additional details, please refer to the Province of Ontario’s News Release.
Effective today, Wednesday, June 30, the following is either allowed or reopening:
  • Up to 25 people will be allowed to gather outdoors, including those not from your household. This includes in City parks, outdoor public spaces, picnic tables, and the bistro tables and chairs in Springer Market Square. The maximum for indoor gatherings is limited to up to five people.
  • Sports fields are permitted for team play; although permits are required and will be coordinated with partner and adult groups.
  • Aquafit numbers have increased to 15 individuals per class, while outdoor fitness classes will begin with pre-registration available at www.CityofKingston.ca/PLAY.
  • Indoor facilities will remain closed except for high-performance athletics and day camps.
 
Effective next Monday, July 5, the Kingston Area Recycling Centre (KARC) and Household Hazardous Waste Facility at 196 Lappan’s Lane return to regular operating hours, as follows:
  • KARC Administration Office open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • KARC Recycling Depot open Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Household Hazardous Waste Facility open Thursday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
A reminder that City Hall and the Payment Centre, at 216 Ontario St., as well as the City satellite office at 1211 John Counter Blvd., have been open to the public since June 14.
