CFRC's Centennial Funding Drive launches October 1st 2022!

'Play It Forward' this Fall with CFRC during our Centennial Funding Drive! Please support our efforts to raise $30,000 to support both the costs to build a new, accessible website and host an accessible and free radio theatre camp series in Spring/Summer 2023!  Stay tuned for details!

   TUNE IN Commemorative Beer Launch October 1st 2022

This is the collaboration you have been waiting for! Stone City Brewing Company in downtown Kingston is brewing a commemorative beer branded “Tune In” in honour of CFRC’s Centennial and hosting a launch party organized by esteemed CFRC alumna, DJ LK!

TUNE IN with us on October 1st at the beer launch party! Join us for your first taste of the Centennial celebration and take home some commemorative bottles…great gifts for your friends too!! There will be a CFRC and community DJ’d dance party at this event.  There will also be food as well as non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase alongside the commemorative CFRC centennial beer Stone City is generously brewing for this historic occasion!

Centennial Plaque Unveiling Ceremony & Open House at CFRC

Join us outside of CFRC at Carruthers Hall on Queen’s University campus for a plaque unveiling ceremony to mark CFRC's 100th birthday falling on October 7th!  Media, campus and local dignitaries, volunteers, staff, Board and esteemed alumni will be on site to celebrate the unveiling with remarks delivered by Queen's University Principal and Vice Chancellor Patrick Deane, City of Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson, MP Mark Gerretson, MPP Ted Hsu, and former Station Manager Steve Cutway.  

At this historic event, CFRC will also honor two distinguished CFRC volunteers, Jim Birch and Wayne Vermette for their 40+ consecutive years of broadcasting on our airwaves!

Following the plaque and volunteer recognition ceremony, there will be a Meet and Greet for supporters, alumni, volunteers and staff at the Grad Club.

*In the case of foul weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Grad Club commencing 1 PM. 

CFRC also welcomes Queen's University Archives to the station to showcase selected CFRC memorabilia and photographs during our Open House running 1 PM to 4 PM at the station.  Visitors will also have opportunities to tour our newly refurbished recording studios, record a historic station ID, and enjoy some cake and coffee in our lounge!

  CFRC Centennial Day Meet and Greet at The Grad Club,
1:30-4 PM

Our friends at The Grad Club have generously reserved some of their lovely and historic space for visiting CFRC alumni, volunteers and community members to chat and reconnect.  Snack platters will be provided, the Grad Club also offers numerous craft ciders and beers on tap, artisanal sodas and other non-alcoholic options, and delicious pub fare! Enjoy some time at the station after the plaque ceremony and then pop by Grad Club!  

**Grad Club is our alternative venue for the plaque ceremony should the weather prove inclement.

CFRC Alumni Meet and Greet at The Grad Club,
4-8 PM

Our friends at The Grad Club are also opening the house for CFRC Alumni visiting the City to reconnect, share some laughs, and tasty refreshments. Snack platters will be provided and the bar will be open with numerous craft ciders and beers on tap, artisanal sodas and other non-alcoholic options.

CFRC will remain open from 4-8 PM as well for visiting alumni to drop by the station and drop in to spend time on the airwaves with distinguished volunteers Jim Birch (4-6 PM) and Wayne Vermette (6-8 PM).

Dance to the Underground!
CFRC DJ Dance Party with DJ Ciel

CFRC Alumna & Toronto-based producer and DJ Cindy Li aka Ciel headlines this capstone dance party at the Grad Club organized by her fellow alum, DJ LK. Former host of CFRC's Lady Flash, Ciel has risen to the top of the global electronic music scene performing in some of the world's top venues.  Ciel is coming back to her old stomping grounds to bring you the best in club mixes with a blend of dancefloor bleep ‘n bass, electro, rave, junglist rinse-outs, barrelling techno and even the occasional outing of OG trance.

Join us as we reprise the Dance To The Underground parties of the early 2000s with Ciel as our headliner. Special guests DJs 99hp and DJ Waiting Room are openers you equally will not want to miss.

Grad Club's amazing bar staff will be on sight with delicious cider, beer and non-alcoholic refreshments for all revellers to enjoy.
