Stone City Brewing Company in downtown Kingston is brewing a commemorative beer branded “Tune In” in honour of CFRC’s Centennial and hosting a launch party organized by esteemed CFRC alumna, DJ LK! TUNE IN with us on October 1st at the beer launch party! Join us for your first taste of the Centennial celebration and take home some commemorative bottles…great gifts for your friends too!! There will be a CFRC and community DJ’d dance party at this event. There will also be food as well as non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase alongside the commemorative CFRC centennial beer Stone City is generously brewing for this historic occasion! Centennial Plaque Unveiling Ceremony & Open House at CFRCJoin us outside of CFRC at Carruthers Hall on Queen’s University campus for a plaque unveiling ceremony to mark CFRC's 100th birthday falling on October 7th! Media, campus and local dignitaries, volunteers, staff, Board and esteemed alumni will be on site to celebrate the unveiling with remarks delivered by Queen's University Principal and Vice Chancellor Patrick Deane, City of Kingston Mayor Bryan Paterson, MP Mark Gerretson, MPP Ted Hsu, and former Station Manager Steve Cutway. At this historic event, CFRC will also honor two distinguished CFRC volunteers, Jim Birch and Wayne Vermette for their 40+ consecutive years of broadcasting on our airwaves! Following the plaque and volunteer recognition ceremony, there will be a Meet and Greet for supporters, alumni, volunteers and staff at the Grad Club. *In the case of foul weather, the ceremony will be moved to the Grad Club commencing 1 PM. CFRC also welcomes Queen's University Archives to the station to showcase selected CFRC memorabilia and photographs during our Open House running 1 PM to 4 PM at the station. Visitors will also have opportunities to tour our newly refurbished recording studios, record a historic station ID, and enjoy some cake and coffee in our lounge!
