Fall-Winter Podcast News Assistant (Job 118970)

Job Duties and Responsibilities
-maintaining CFRC's podcast website and RSS Feeds
-working with CFRC news team to record podcast campus/community news segments
-coordinating and scheduling podcast episode deployments
-uploading content to RSS feeds and podcast website
-maintaining regular communications with and coordination of local and remote podcasters/content
-weekly reportage to Station Manager on podcasts uploaded to website
-scheduling podcaster studio time and reporting scheduling to Station Manager
-learning basic sound software usage to assist and train podcasters to produce high quality podcasts
-relay weekly lists of upcoming episodes to CFRC staff for social media deployment
-participate in training of new podcasters' usage of our equipment/software
-become fluent in relevant policies and guidelines regarding podcast content
-oversee editing and quality assurance of podcasts
-developing marketing campaign for podcasting aimed at students and instructors



-familiarity and/or experience with podcasting and audio editing
-familiarity and/or experience with Wordpress blog platforms
-excellent organizational skills; ability to maintain calendars, communications and to meet strict deadlines
-willingness to learn/experience with sound editing and production techniques
-ability to work independently while maintaining regular reports to staff

Where candidates do not possess skills and experience, CFRC will provide appropriate training.

Fall-Winter Marketing and Advertising Assistant (Job 118973)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Marketing and Advertising Assistant works with CFRC's Station Manager to coordinate the voicing and production of commercial advertisements, station promotions and public service announcements. The successful candidate will be responsible for writing, voicing, recording, and producing these elements for broadcast.  The successful candidate will also coordinate and work with station volunteers to voice these elements to ensure a diversity of voices in our broadcasting.  Further, the Marketing and Advertising Assistant also coordinates and participates in tabling/boothing opportunities campus and community events when and if these events occur in person but also to find opportunities for CFRC's virtual participation in campus and community events including Orientation Week 2021 activities.  Finally the Marketing and Advertising Assistant is responsible for developing and executing a virtual student engagement strategy to assist CFRC with its outreach to new and returning Queen's students.

Fall-Winter Campus News Liaison (Job 118974)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Campus News Liaison works with CFRC's Community News Coordinator to coordinate coverage of campus news on CFRC 101.9 FM's airwaves. The Campus News Liaison will be responsible for:

-monitoring news feeds for breaking campus news and interview opportunities
-recording talks, guest lectures, conference proceedings
-monitoring campus-based newsletters
-developing weekly on air campus events calendar
-providing campus news briefs to Community News Coordinator 
-Outreach with University and student groups about their upcoming events & initiatives
-seeking and acting upon interview opportunities
-undertake recording and live on location broadcasting
-editing content for podcast suite
-mentoring new volunteers
-doing outreach to students to recruit new campus news team volunteers
-writing social media copy and submitting to Station Manager related to breaking campus news and upcoming news segments/stories
-writing web-copy to publish news stories on CFRC's website


Work Study Eligibility for Fall/Winter 2021-22

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

-strong oral and written communication skills
-strong research & writing skills
-self-motivation and an abilities to work independently and as part of a team
-familiarity with social media platforms
-experience with or demonstrable interest in community radio, journalism, volunteer coordination, visual and performing arts, community outreach initiatives and/or non-profit organizations

Fall-Winter Music Collection Assistant (Job 118975)

Job Duties and Responsibilities

CFRC's Music Collection Assistant, under the supervision of the Music Coordinator has the following responsibilities:
-maintaining physical vinyl and CD collection on shelves
-onboard new music into physical and digital collection
-locate local music in collection and create a new local music section
-sorting and returning items to the shelves
-cataloguing uncatalogued items
-reviewing CRTC regulations ensuring compliance
-identifying missing and/or damaged artifacts to the Music Coordinator
-continuing development of our new local music section
-previewing digital content for explicit language
-ensuring physical collection is alphabetized and artefacts are returned to proper location
-dusting, label-making
-broadcast audit assistants and log reviews as required


Work Study Eligibility for Fall/Winter 2021-22

-Knowledge and direct experience using BOTH Excel and ACCESS Database Management system.
-highly organized and detail oriented
-self-starting initiative-taker
-interest in community radio, music, policy and regulations
