Residents can apply for sewage system permits through DASH, effective Jan. 1, 2020

December 31, 2020

Tomorrow, the City’s Department of Building Services will officially take over the process for accepting applications and issuing permits for the review and inspection of sewage systems. This service has been provided by KFL&A Public Health since 1998 but is now the responsibility of the City.

Required under part 8 of the Ontario Building Code, residents will be able to submit permit applications and request inspections directly through DASH, the City’s Development and Services Hub.

“We’re working closely with KFL&A Public Health to facilitate this process,” says Lisa Capener-Hunt, Manager of Building Services and Chief Building Official for the City. “Staff are available to help applicants with any questions by phone, email or in person, at 1211 John Counter Blvd.”

Apply for permits using DASH

All building permit applications and supporting documentation can now be submitted online through DASH, the City's online development and services hub.  Applicants will need to create a DASH account by accessing the citizen access portal.

Once an account has been registered, login and follow the steps below to apply for a permit:

  1. Select the Home Page
  2. Select Apply for a Permit, located under the Permits Heading
  3. Select type of application (Plumbing) to apply for and continue through the questions and supporting documentation to submit the application

Customers with existing applications or issued permits with the City must contact Building Services at  [email protected] or 613-546-4291 ext. 3280 so that a new DASH account can be created with the applicant’s active permits. Once an account has been created with an associated permit, documents can be uploaded directly to the assigned permit and building inspector.
